Not specifically, but at this point you theoretically can't rule it out. There were some people subbing others in there, and they can cause 2D wiggle like you're seeing. (And it's cases like these where it pays to get your parts from trusted sources, so you have less that you can question.)Īlso, make sure the small transistors in the bipolar section (Q6, Q7) are per the original schematics.
And depending on where you got your parts, it could be a bad amplifier or transistor as well. I don't know what you used for parts, but you want to make sure they're exactly (or nearly exactly) what was used on original boards, with very little deviation in terms of ratings. Your easiest route might be to get a junk Tempest PCB, and one by one swap the parts from the analog section until you find what's causing it. Particularly for many of the caps in the analog section, it's critical to use high-voltage caps, as these are low-leakage, which is important for drawing accuracy. You've just got to find the offending part(s). Could also be caps that are too leaky, causing drift as the beams are drawing. I just watched the vid.Ĭould be something active.
